The Broadcast News clip reminded me of another bit that came shortly afterward from the same executive, Paul Moore:
Paul Moore: Now, if there's anything I can do for you...
Employee: Well, I certainly hope you'll die soon.
From In Good Company:
Carter Duryea: I'm gonna have to let some people go.
Dan Foreman: Why do you say let them go? They don't WANT to go. Why don't you just say fire them?
Carter Duryea: Because it sounds better.
Dan Foreman: Not to the person getting fired it doesn't.
From The Simpsons:
Homer: They said if I came in late again that I would get fired, and I can't risk that, so I'm not going.
From The Amityville Horror:
Lisa: That little shit got me fired.
From The Godfather:
Tessio: Tell Mike it was only business, I always liked him.
From Office Space:
Peter Gibbons: Good luck with your layoffs, all right? I hope your firings go really well.
From Moonstruck:
Johnny: In time you will see that this is the best thing.
Loretta: In time you'll drop dead and I'll come to your funeral in a red dress.
