A blog for The People of the Dallas Morning News to share information about a career-altering event that they had no control to stop.
Because it is honorable to recognize the individuals who toiled in the fields, doing their part to make the Dallas Morning News as good a product as it could be. But due to financial forces beyond their control, they were made a "voluntary severance offer." Had that been in copy, an editor would have changed that to read "buyout."

If anybody is still peeking in here, please note this opportunity to keep all those promises to keep in touch:
Stuck in town over Christmas?
Tired of your houseguests?
Don't feel like waiting in the gift-return line?
Then come share some holiday cheer with old friends. Past, present and future DMN alumni - and their families and friends - are invited to keep all those promises to keep in touch. Here's the particulars:
Saturday, Dec. 27
2 p.m.
Stratos Global Greek Taverna
2907 Northwest Highway (at Webb Chapel Extension)
Drinks are already cheap
Our gang gets a 30% discount on vittles
Now send this on to everybody you know.
Thanks for keeping this going. It seems like most have forgotten about the blog and the fact that lay-offs could start happening all over again.
Here we are again!
500 !!! From where?
I don't know about you....but I'm exhausted
Whatever happens, make sure span of control is at least 10 managers for every employee. Maybe even a ratio of 15 to one.
Well, it has happened again. Layoffs are around the corner. Please dust off your resumes and be as prepared as possible for what is about to come. Soon the Dallas Morning News will be a paper that runs predominately AP stories and few of its own.
So, are you -- Rock of Truth -- planning to start this up again? Or on another blog?
Or should someone else take over?
A word to the wise: Anyone thinking about starting up a blog needs to be forewarned that there can be peril associated with taking on the task. I speak from experience. Not trying to talk anyone out of doing something they think is helpful, but just letting you know that there can be risks and headaches involved.
All I can think is that either "Rock of Truth" is no longer at TDMN or he/she has decided not to continue with the blog.
Goodbye, newsbuyout.blogspot.com
The next storm clouds have gathered. Are you coming back?
So next week, March 16, eh?
The 20th would sync up with payroll. 100 lost in Providence, 40 in Riverside, 10-20 in Denton, so if they stick to the 500 number firm, how much are you betting that corporate takes a smaller hit than Denton?
pay cuts, unpaid furloughs, no jobs to be saved as part of those give-backs after 500 are let go, ask your manager, coming to a newsroom near you around april 3.
Who knows where to download XRumer 5.0 Palladium?
Help, please. All recommend this program to effectively advertise on the Internet, this is the best program!
